Evangelism - Pt 1

 • Jimmy Boyd • Series: Evangelism

Welcome! DC Church is committed to developing true KNOWING, GROWING, & GOING followers of Jesus. This Week’s Message: EVANGELISM-PT. 1 Evangelism—the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness. Acts 21:8 NLT “8 The next day we went on to Caesarea and stayed at the home of Philip the Evangelist, one of the seven men who had been chosen to distribute food.” 2 Timothy 4:5 NIV “5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” Ephesians 4:11-12 NLT “11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work (spreading the Gospel) and build up the church, the body of Christ.” I read some statistics about Evangelism practices of the American church. These are by Author Michael Parrott: —95% of all Christians have never won a soul to Christ. —80% of all Christians do not consistently witness for Christ. —Less than 2% of all Christians are involved in the ministry of evangelism. —71% of all Christians do not currently give toward the financing of the Great Commission… locally… globally… missions. —63% of all leadership, including deacons and elders, have not led one person to Jesus in the last 2 years. —99% of the leadership ministries believe that every Christian, including leadership, has been commanded to share the gospel to the lost. —97% of membership believe that if the leadership had a greater conviction and involvement in evangelism, then it would be an example for the church to follow. I think sometimes it’s easy to get comfortable in our walk with Jesus, and we sometimes forget what it was like to be lost. There are people around us everyday that are lost. One of the easiest ways is to share and relate John 3:16, ‘God Loved, We sinned, God Gave, We Respond’
