Summer Psalms Series—Pt. 2 Psalm 62 “1 I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. 3 So many enemies against one man—all of them trying to kill me. To them I’m just a broken-down wall or a tottering fence. 4 They plan to topple me from my high position. They delight in telling lies about me. They praise me to my face but curse me in their hearts. 5 Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. 7 My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. 8 O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge. 9 Common people are as worthless as a puff of wind, and the powerful are not what they appear to be. If you weigh them on the scales, together they are lighter than a breath of air. 10 Don’t make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life. 11 God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times: Power, O God, belongs to you; 12 unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely you repay all people according to what they have done.” 2 things in verse 1 that are challenging for most of us here today! 1—Waiting 2—Quietly 1—Waiting Psalm 25:5 …For You I wait all the day Psalm 27:14 …wait for the Lord Psalm 33:20 …Our soul waits for the Lord Psalm 37:7 …wait patiently for Him Psalm 37:34 …Wait for the Lord Psalm 40:1 …I waited patiently for the Lord Psalm 130:5 …Wait for the Lord Psalm 130:6 …My soul waits for the Lord Isaiah 40:31 …They that wait on the Lord Lamentations 3:25 …The Lord is good to those who wait for Him Micah 7:7 …I will wait for the God of my salvation 2—Quietly Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God Victory 1 Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Psalm 108:13 “With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.” Deuteronomy 20:4 “For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” ROCK—Firm Foundation SALVATION—Deliverance from sin and it’s consequences FORTRESS—Stronghold or place of defense HOPE—an expectation with certainty that God will do what He has said, based on His promises and his character. TRUST— speaks to confidence…in every situation….all the time POUR OUT your heart to him, (transparent… open communication, sharing what you’re feeling… with the Lord…for God is our refuge… safe place POWER and UNFAILING LOVE… belong only to God God will repay every good thing we’ve done… every bad thing… is under the blood!!!
